Lowest maintenance & Long Operational Life. Solar has 60% Accelerated Depreciation in first year and 40% in second year under Section 32 (ai) of Income Tax Act 1961 Accelerated Depreciation 40% & Section 32 (1)(iia) of Income Tax Act 1961 One time 20% on plant and machinery. Total 60% AD.

# Solar plant commissioned for more than 180 days in a financial year :- It will be eligible for 40 + 20 % depreciation . Hence the asset owner can claim 60% depreciation in first year. This itself is a very big benefit as it incentivizes investment in solar power systems.

# Solar power plant commissioned for less than 180 days in a financial year will be eligible for half of full year depreciation rate given above. Hence in percentage terms a solar asset owner can claim 30% depreciation (60% / 2). #Tax Rate Bellow 25Cr base rate is 25% (27.82). Above 25Cr base rate is 30% (33.90).

10 Years Tax Holidays on Income from sale of power under Section 80-IA of Income Tax Act 1961.
